The Tank

We don’t know her name, or her story. She is calm at auction (probably drugged), but when we try to load and unload her, she is absolutely wild. Somehow we get her into the barn and a stall, and leave her to decompress. It appears she must have been beaten, as she has serious “head issues” and won’t let anyone touch her.

She is quite striking in appearance, heavy-boned and solid, perhaps a cross between a cob and a quarter horse or a draft. In winter she is a pure black.

After much time she settles, and although she remains head-shy and wary of quick movements near her head, she eventually begins to enjoy human contact, even grooming. She always knows her own mind, and is definitely a boss horse out in the field. She is now about 25 years old, and still going strong. Her eyesight is not so good any more, but she doesn’t let that stop her.
